Who We Are

UMOJA’s vision and aim is to build bridges within the local and global communities by using music as its medium. Whether we share our time or talents, our members are committed to the communities we serve.

We are a group of young people, from different walks of life looking to make a difference ‘one note at a time.’ Our core values include mutual trust, genuine concern and respect for others, integrity of all, dedication to music and its spiritual component.

Executive Committee

Members of the executive committee aim to:

commit to the choir and to meetings that they will attend consistently

be personable and friendly

have the ability to motivate self and others

have the ability to bring new ideas, creativity, lots of enthusiasm and commitment to these roles

have a flexible approach to working combined with the ability to work to deadlines, while maintaining a high standard of professionalism

have the ability to work as part of a team and also independently

take a positive approach to new challenges

represent the spirit and philosophy of our choir

Who We AreOur MissionExecutive Committee

KUUMBA

The essential elements of this group are:

the ability to commit to both Umoja repertoire and Kuumba repertoire

rehearsal every second Sunday (5-6:30)

ability to read music a must

fast-paced

extra rehearsing expected at home, above and beyond Umoja repertoire practice at home

Kuumba means creativity. It is a break out choir consisting of Umoja members looking to be challenged with musical pieces that may ask you to push a little harder as singers and performers.

If you are interested in auditioning for Kuumba in addition to UMOJA, please have this supplementary piece ready for your audition!
